John D. Kershman is the Managing Partner and an Adjunct Professor at Washington University School of Law. He received his Juris Doctorate from Washington University Law School as well. He earned his B.S. from St. John's University in New York, and his Masters Degree in Business from Webster University at its main campus in St. Louis, Missouri. He is admitted to practice in Missouri, including the Eastern and Western Federal Districts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He has again been selected by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers & Rising Stars as one of the top up-and- coming attorneys in the state in 2011. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. The selections for this list are made by the research team at Super Lawyers, which is a service of the Thomson Reuters, Legal division based in Eagan, Minn. Each year, the research team at Super Lawyers undertakes a rigorous multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by the attorney- led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area and a good- standing and disciplinary check.
John Kershman's practice encompasses many aspects of civil litigation, complex transactions and sophisticated domestic litigation. With a background in marketing strategy including new product development and acquisitions, Mr. Kershman's practice includes various aspects of commercial transactions and consulting. Including, formation of new business entities, re-structuring of existing entities, as well as, handling intellectual property matters catered to the particular needs of small businesses. Working closely with small business owners, entrepreneurs, and families, he has handled various clients' complex estate planning needs, including dispute resolution.
At Washington University School of Law, John Kershman coached the National Civil Rights Appellate Advocacy Team. His team was a three time reigning National Champion having won the 24th, 25th, and 26th Annual McGee National Civil Rights Competition held at the University of Minnesota.
Additionally, prior to entering law school, John Kershman was a product and brand manager for a line of Cystic fibrosis products and was a published consultant in the food and pharmaceutical industries with extensive experience in marketing strategy and new product development including acquisitions and strategic partnerships/joint ventures.
